ABB is fully committed to protecting your privacy and respecting your rights to control how your personal data is used. This notice explains why and how ABB collects and uses your personal data and the rights you have in relation to that data.

Your Personal Data

ABB Information Systems Ltd., Affolternstrasse 44, 8050 Zürich will be the “Controller” of your personal data – this company is responsible for the privacy of your data.

What we need

We are collecting and using personal data about you, including:

  • your login credentials
  • business e-mail
  • geolocation information

Why we need it

We use the personal data that we collect for managing our internal operations, including rooms’ management in the selected locations and providing you with the directions to chosen ABB premises. The business e-mail and credential processing is necessary to allow you to log into the application. Business e-mail address is also necessary to send the confirmation, after the requested room was successfully booked. The processing of these personal data categories can be justified based upon our legitimate interests, which is the management of our premises as well as providing our employees and contractors with the data necessary to reach designated premises of ABB. You may obtain a copy of our assessment of why we may process your personal data for these interests by visiting www.abb.com/privacy.

Only when you give your consent, the application will track your geolocation data to inform you about your current position and to calculate the best route to the ABB premises. Your geolocation data will not be stored afterwards and used for any other purpose or transferred to other entities. In cases where we have asked for your consent to use your data for a particular purpose, you may withdraw your consent. At any moment you can turn off processing geolocation data in the application settings, should you desire to do so. However, in this case you will not be able to receive precise directions to ABB premises. We only collect the personal data from you that we need for these purposes.

We may also anonymise your personal data so it no longer identifies you and use it for various purposes, including data analysis, improving our services and testing certain of our IT systems.

How we share your personal data

We only share your personal data as described in this notice.

Your personal data shall not be transferred to any recipients in the EU or in third countries.

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. We restrict access to your personal data to ABB employees who need to have that information in order to fulfill your request or supply our services. How long we keep it

We will keep your personal data for time necessary to maintain the application functions, but no longer than 3 months from the time it was used by the application. After this time, we will securely delete your personal data. However, if necessary to meet legal or regulatory requirements and/or resolve disputes, we may keep some of your personal data after this time.

Please be informed, that your historical geolocation data will not be stored. The application process only current location data and they are being deleted immediately after the sessions with the application has ended.

Cookies and services of external services

ABB uses first party cookies for storing preferences, tracking user trends and patterns with the help of web statistics providers and for storing data needed throughout your visit on the site (for example, contents of your shopping cart).

Please note, that using online navigation services may lead to your personal data being processed by external service provider, when is necessary to maintain some application function and provide a seamless experience. The choice of this external service provider is dependent on the application user. In this scope Visit ABB will link to the default application set to provide map services. This application can be chosen in your device settings. Please note, that some of these partners may be located in countries outside of the European Economic Area which do not provide the same level of data protection as the country in which you reside and are not recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection.

What are your rights

You have the right to correct any error in your personal data or update it.

Depending on the jurisdiction in which you are located and in which your personal data is processed, you may also have the right to:

  • access or receive a copy of your personal data that we hold,
  • delete your personal data that we no longer have a lawful ground to use,
  • rectification of inaccurate personal data, should such data appear,
  • object to the processing of your personal data based on the legitimate interests ground (provided our reasons for the processing don’t outweigh any prejudice to your data privacy rights), or
  • restrict how we use your personal data whilst a complaint is being investigated, you may make such request at www.abb.com/privacy. In certain circumstances, we may need to restrict the above rights to safeguard the public interest (e.g. the prevention or detection of crime) and our interests (e.g. the maintenance of legal privilege).

If you are not satisfied with our response or believe we are processing your personal data against the law, you may also contact the Data Privacy Authority in your country of residence or work or where you believe an infringement of data privacy laws may have taken place.

The privacy policy shall be applicable from 25/05/2018. Please note this Privacy Policy will change from time to time. We expect most such changes to be minor, but there may be changes that are more significant.
