Applicability: EZLink Connect

At ABB, respecting your data privacy rights is a top priority. This notice explains why and how ABB collects and uses your personal data when you use EZLink Connect application and the rights you have in relation to that data.

Who controls your data

ABB Limited, 3100 Daresbury Park, Warrington WA4 4BT, Great Britain will be the “Controller” of your personal data - this company is responsible for the privacy of your data.

The data we collect about you and how we get it

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Login Credentials
  • Business E-mail

All the categories of data listed above were collected from ABB databases (internally) or directly from you as a result of the usage of EZLink Connect application.

What we use your data for

We use the personal data that we collect for the following purposes:

  • provide the access to the EZLink Connect application, including creating your personal account in this application,
  • user login and authentication (performed by the MyABB authentication system)
  • monitor access to the EZLink Connect application,
  • ensure that EZLink Connect application fulfils all your needs

We process your personal data for the purposes described in this notice based on our legitimate interest. Our legitimate interests to collect and use the personal data for this purpose are: providing you with the access to the application and allowing to use its functions (EZLInk allows to display information on the process values, diagnostics and maintenance guidance). Only personal data that is necessary will be collected and processed for the purposes indicated above. Processing of personal data enable us to provide you with the access to application. When we rely on legitimate interest to process your data, you may obtain a copy of our assessment of why we may process your personal data for these interests by visiting www.abb.com/privacy.

Data minimization
Our app requests only data relevant to the core functionality and uses data that is required to accomplish the relevant task. We do not request access to protected resources like photos or contacts.

How we share the data
We only share your personal data as described in this notice.

We only share your personal data with other ABB affiliates or third parties as necessary for the purposes described in the table below. Where we share your personal data with an affiliate or third party so that it is transferred to or becomes accessible from outside the European Union (“EU”) and the European Economic Area ("EEA") or outside the country where the ABB company that controls your data is located, we always put adequate safeguards in place to protect your personal data. Examples of these safeguards are an adequacy decision of the European Commission (read more here), Standard Contractual Clauses (read more here), Privacy Shield certification (read more here), and the Binding Corporate Rules that some of our suppliers have adopted (read more here). We have taken additional measures for the transfer of data from within to outside the EU, EEA and outside the country where the ABB company that controls your data is located to protect your personal data. How long we keep your data

Based on mandatory legislation, ABB must keep certain personal data for a minimum period of time. We only keep your personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this privacy notice. In general, personal data is kept for as long as necessary for the purpose. Personal data is processed with you as long as you are using the application.

Your personal data might be kept for longer period only if required by local laws and regulatory requirements. At the same time, applicable data protection laws require that we do not keep personal data in an identifiable form for any longer than is necessary for the purpose for which the personal data is being processed.

The right to object to data processingYou have the right to object to our processing of your personal data where we rely on our legitimate interests as the basis for our processing, where your data protection rights outweigh our reasoning for legitimate interests.
The right to withdraw consentWhere ABB has asked for your consent to process personal data, you may withdraw your consent at any time.
